Cloth diapers: Why they are so much easier than most people think

Jonah has been in cloth diapers for a little over one month now. We had decided not to do cloth until he was big enough to fit into his one size diapers. We are loving his cloth diapers and can't wait to continue to use them up until he is potty trained and hopefully with our future babies. They are so simple to use. Even on the go with cloth isn't bad at all. I originally had said we would use disposables if we left the house but now I have seen that it's not hard at all to take the diapers when we go out. Yes, if we are out all day long I usually use disposables mostly because the diaper bag isn't big enough to hold enough diapers for a full day. Anyways, I wanted to do a post to explain why cloth is much easier than so many people think.

It's not like it used to be...That's right. Cloth diapering is nothing like it used to be. You don't have to fold a towel around your baby's bottom, pin it, and cover it with waterproof bloomers. These days they offer so many different options such as pocket diapers and all in ones. Some people do choose to use prefolds and covers but today the Snappi is a great invention that makes it so you don't have to use pins to close the diaper. The pocket diapers and all in one diapers are so similar to disposables. The only difference is instead of tossing the diaper in a trash can, you toss it in a diaper pail. Of course if the diaper is dirty you have to get rid of the dirtiness before putting it into the diaper pail. This leads me to my next reason...

You don't have to touch poop...it's true, just because you cloth diaper doesn't mean you have to touch poop. Honestly, I don't have much of a problem if some of my child's poop gets on my hand. That is what hot water and antibacterial soap are for. I don't have a diaper sprayer. I just use the old fashioned dunk n flush method. Gasp! Trust me I have one clean toilet and once again I have hot water and soap. If you can't fathom the thought of getting down and dirty, a diaper sprayer is just what you need. It's a handy little sprayer that hooks right up to your toilet and sprays the diapers clean and right into the toilet. See? You never have to touch poop!

To me, those are probably the two main things people think about when they hear those words: cloth diapers. The modern day cloth diapers really are so easy to use and they are so good for your baby. Another plus...they are so cute! I love a fluffy butt! I will eventually do a post on washing diapers and how we store our diapers. Until then, if you have any questions about cloth diapering I would love to try and help!

Fall.Decor.Traditions.

We are so ready for fall in this house. I decorated around the house the very first weekend in September when it was 90 degrees outside. It's one of those things where you think maybe if you go ahead a and do it...it will get here sooner. I am so anxious to get the Halloween decor out this year. I am excited about starting new traditions with Jonah. I know that I want to get a pumpkin the night before Halloween and get it all carved and ready for Halloween night. I am hoping to do that with him every year. I want him to know traditions and have that good feeling each year when the time comes around. What traditions do you do in your home? I would love to hear of different ones and get some ideas!

A day in the life...of an 8 week old

That's right, we are 8 weeks into this amazing adventure. I can't believe that my baby is almost 2 months old. I remember the day I found out I was pregnant like it was yesterday and its almost been one year since that day. Since I am a mommy now, time flies by. It is crazy! It will be no time before I am planning birthday parties, buying school supplies, and planning his first sleepover. Alright, I am getting ahead of myself...for now let's focus on this sweet tiny baby that I have...my sweet Jonah Lee.
Like I said, the little guy is 8 weeks old today and this baby loves his routine. He is much happier when we stick to it and he really does notice if we get out of routine. He is also a little homebody. Since I stay at home that is where most of our time is spent through the week and he knows that home is where he is most comfy.
Every morning Jonah usually wakes up around 7-7:30 and eats. He then normally falls back asleep until around 9:00. Once we get up and have breakfast, then it's playtime. Jonah is such a morning baby and he loves to play on his playmat and his bouncy seat. After playtime, the little guy is usually ready to eat again. After this feeding he normally takes his long morning nap. Not going to lie, I look very forward to his nap so I can get stuff done around the house. Once his nap is over it's time to eat again. Then we usually just hang out and have some cuddle time 😘
Once Jonah has his afternoon nap he normally plays while I cook dinner. THEN Daddy comes home! Jonah is really starting to show his happiness when his daddy comes home. Alex usually keeps the baby occupied while I finish up dinner.

After dinner is all done and cleaned up comes Jonah's favorite part of the day. He loves a good bath. Our little nightly routine goes bath, cuddles, nurse, then bedtime. He usually does great and it asleep within ten minutes and normally sleeps until 4:30-5:30 before he is up to eat. We are VERY thankful for our good sleeper!

Once the night is over and it's morning time again, the happy little guy is full of smiles! It's definitely my favorite part of the day...cuddling in bed with him and Alex before he goes off to work for the day.

That is a typical weekday for the little guy.  What's a normal day like for you and your little ones?

7 weeks 4 days

Well, it has been 7 weeks and 4 days since the best day of my life. This was the day that the sweetest little guy made me a mommy. I am loving every bit of my journey as his mommy and things get better every day. Sure we have those days where I am in tears because he is fussy and I have no idea what he wants, but for the most part our days consist of hangin' out, enjoying each other, lovin' each other, and giving tons of kisses to those cute little chubby cheeks. We are trying to get somewhat of a routine started and Jonah has taken to that very well. He loves his night time routine and is really starting to notice when we do not follow it. It consist of playing with Daddy once he is home from work, then we usually do bath time, cuddle for awhile, nurse, and then rock him to sleep. He has been an amazing sleeper since day one and recently he has gotten even better. On average he usually goes down between 9-10:30 and doesn't wake up until between 4 and 5. Once I feed him he usually sleeps until 8-9. This little boy loves his sleep! Mommy and Daddy are grateful for that.

Breastfeeding has been wonderful. Jonah latched perfectly since he was very first born and we haven't had any issues ever since. Thankfully I am able to produce plenty of milk to keep my little guy happy and healthy. He normally eats every 2-3 hours throughout the day. He had a bottle of breastmilk for the first time last night and he did pretty good. It took him a few minutes to get the hang of it but once he got it, it was gone in minutes. Daddy enjoyed being able to feed him.

The past week has been so fun because Jonah is starting to smile. He has been smiling for a few weeks but this past week he will really hand out his smiles. Nothing makes me happier than seeing those sweet smiles first thing in the morning. He is so well rested and so happy. He is also cooing like crazy. He tries to talk to his toys during playtime.

I am going to try hard to keep up with this blog so I can document all of the fun things that I get to do as a mommy and even the not so fun things may show up occasionally. We have some hard days but for the most part this little boy is making being a family of 3 the best that it possibly could be!!!
